I was on a plane this morning, and as I looked out the window I was amazed at how slow it seemed we were moving.
We’re practically a world away and down below is just slowly grazing by, but in all reality — we’re flying. Soaring actually. Going hundreds of miles per hour. Passing city to city in just 10 minutes or so.
And it got me thinking…
Thinking about how similar to life that is. How when we’re living, and we’re trying — trying to reach goals and work towards the next thing, how so often it feels as if no progress is being made. Or if it is, how slowly things are moving.
But I don’t think that’s true really. I think it’s an illusion — just like looking out the plane window at the ground below.
We’re so self critical — telling ourselves we’re never doing enough or things aren’t excelling quick enough. I don’t have that job yet, I don’t have the relationship. I don’t live in that city or have that dog I’ve always talked about.
But life is happening all the while — and quite fast actually. Things are happening. You are excelling. You are making leaps forward.
Sometimes it just takes us removing ourselves — spending some time in the sky — looking down at everything. Looking at everything that is happening without focusing on what we aren’t doing yet.
And realizing, we’re moving a lot quicker than we think.
