There’s Something I Need You To Know…

“I would write ‘you are loved’ on the moon.”

Last weekend someone asked me- If you had a billboard that could say anything and be put anywhere, what would it say and where would you put it?

While posing this question to me, the person then shared an answer that was given from a child he had asked the same thing…

The kid responded with the initial statement above- he would put “you are loved” on the moon, so that everyone could see it.

I felt as though today, a day dedicated to celebrating love, called for this story to be told- again- but this time, from me to you.

I know Valentine’s Day is typically romanticized as a day for those who have already found a partner to share this little journey of life we live with… but it’s really a day for all of us- because love, I promise, is in fact everywhere if we grant ourselves the capacity to see it.

Love is in the local barista remembering your name and telling you it was good to see you today. Love is in opening the door for a stranger and flashing a smile to go along with it. Love is in weekly 2 hour phone calls with grandma where laughter and tears almost always show.

Although I am excited for the day I get to share this day with one other than myself, I have found great joy in discovering all the different ways love shows up in our lives.

We all have moments where we feel alone or like the love is hiding somewhere and we can’t quite find it. But I promise you, you are- loved.

Pretend it’s written on the moon.

Happy Valentine’s Day.
